PLAYFUL PATHS TO LOVE: 27 DRESSES

27Dresses_JaneKevin.jpg

27 Dresses is one of my top 5 favorite rom-coms. The story is unique and adorable and who does not love a fun ugly bridesmaid dress fashion show. I think Katherine Heigl and James Marsden have great chemistry and play their characters well.

Enemies to lovers is my favorite rom-com trope, and while Jane and Kevin are never true enemies (Jane does love Kevin’s writing), they do get off on the wrong foot because of the pseudonym reveal. And their sarcastic banter throughout the movie always makes me laugh even though I have seen the movie so many times.

One of my favorite parts of the movie is their drunken night together at the bar. Jane is mad because Kevin figured out that she is in love with George, her boss/sister’s fiancée, and then she hydroplanes, and their car gets stuck. After walking through the rain, they get to a bar and Jane finally relaxes and she and Kevin realize that they have more in common than they originally thought. And of course, they loudly sing Benny & the Jets together with the rest of the people in the bar. Hilarious! Love this movie and the love story it tells.
